Volunteering

We welcome volunteers both experienced in woodland work and those just interested in helping a great cause and learinign new skills.

Volunteer days are Wednesday at Cwm Plysgog Woods, Cilgerran from 10.00am till 4.00pm or any time in between. If you are visiting us for the first time please email or call us and we will meet you at Castle Square Cilgerran so that getting lost is not an option.

For many of our volunteers just working in the seclusion of woodland with like-minded people is enough satisfaction. But there are many other advantages such as fresh air and exercise, learning new skills and seeing the culmination of each project.

Volunteering update

This is what we got up to one Saturday when we had a visit from some eager beavers from PAVS. Top left: shaping legs for the saw horse.Top right: splitting willow trunk for legs and arms of horse.Bottom left: Shaping arms with draw knife. Bottom right: the finished article.

Here is our list of current tasks:

  • Sorting poles from last years cut.
  • Making stool legs and stretchers.
  • Bundleing Faggots.
  • Making fence posts and stakes.
  • Grading and clearing coppice plot.
  • Charcoal burning.
  • Clearing rides
  • Having fun with like minded folk.

Something for everyone

We are always at the woods on Wednesdays. Please email or phone if you would like to visit us. Directions will be sent via email and we can always arrange to meet you in Cilgerran if you prefer.
